Coral Gables, FL 33146
The Spanish Florida missions were established in 1587 and lasted for more than a century and a half. Outstanding scholars in precontact and early modern Florida anthropology, archaeology, cultural studies, ethnohistory, linguistics, literature, and theology will convene in this symposium to share their efforts in documenting the story and struggles of the indigenous peoples of Florida as they were drawn into a tumultuous web of colonial missionary and global connectivities that changed their world forever.
