Join Cristina Favretto in conversation with Christopher "Scott" Satterwhite, as they reveal the often-hidden history of punk subcultures in Florida. Satterwhite's newly published book, A Punkhouse in the Deep South: The Oral History of 309, is about an infamous "bunkhouse" in a small military town and the people who lived and passed through there. His book documents how these diverse characters created a community and built a thriving counterculture in one of the most unlikely settings. Together, Favretto and Satterwhite will discuss Special Collections' rich and growing punk archives - which include zines, original artwork, archival collections, ephemera, and more - while exploring what it's like to be in a Florida counterculture and the growth of "punkademia" as a serious and important field of research.
